Girls, ladies & sisters: share with me your clothes!

Esprit has a strong community tradition of giving up things that others may find useful. This is an opportune time to help one another out as we share our largesse or just clean out our closets and perhaps select from the offerings available some things of use for ourselves. The Clothing Exchange Boutique is a place of sharing as well as exchanging.

Anything you have that you no longer use and is clean and presentable to wear is welcomed. This includes everything from the inside out - lingerie, hosiery, shoes, foundation wear, skirts, sweaters, blouses, belts, jewelry and jackets as well as dresses and coats that are simply gathering dust and taking up space in your crowded closet. Any unopened makeup is also welcome as well as any videos, relevant subject books, "how to" pamphlets and the like.

Beginning on Monday the Boutique will be open at the same times as the Esprit Registration Desk. Everyone can bring in whatever items they wish to donate at any time during the week. On Monday through Wednesday items may be taken from the Clothing Boutique by first time attendees only. Starting Thursday it is open to all attendees. The exchange operates on a simple honor system...visit as often as you want, donate what you can, try to keep the room orderly and keep clothes on their hangars, and don't be too greedy.

As a small token of appreciation for your generosity, a special gift of award winning, locally vinted wines, will be drawn by raffle. Six of these wines will be raffled at the Sunday farewell brunch. Tickets for the draw will be given to those who contribute to the exchange, so be sure to ask for your ticket when you donate and be sure to keep your ticket stub.

All useful items that remain at the Boutique when Esprit is over will be boxed up and taken to a local women's shelter for use there. What we don't use will be put to good use by others.

Please help your sisters out and maintain and build upon the strong tradition of our community helping one another by clearing out your (and perhaps your spouse's) unwanted, servicable clothing and bringing it to Esprit! Remember, one girl's discards could be another girl's treasures!!

About Alice

This year the Boutique is pleased to announce Alice's offer to alter clothes needing some alterations for a satisfactory fit from the Boutique selections. Alice is one of the attendees to Esprit and is well known to NWGA girls for her expert work and advice that New Girls, in particular, will find invaluable.

She is a volunteer (like others on the committee) and won't be charging for her services. She won't be bringing her sewing machine but she will have her sewing box. She can do minor alterations and repairs. She wants to help get the boutique set up and organized. She loves dressing up the girls. She is always helping the girls here in Portland. She knows a lot about fashion, fabric and fit. She wants to attend some classes but during the day she will have a lot of free time and would love to spend time in the boutique helping the girls.

She loves helping people and this is right up her alley. Look for the sign in the Boutique where you'll be able to find her if you don't see her haunting the Boutique. Alice's generous donation of time and expertise to help out girls in our community exemplifies the caring, helpful and generous nature of our community.
