About Scholarships

Note: the main round of 2006 scholarship awards has been completed.

Thanks to generous contributions from donors to this year's Esprit Scholarship Fund, we are able to provide scholarships on a needs basis to attend Esprit.

Scholarships are intended to encourage first-time attendees who need financial assistance to attend Esprit, as well as to assist couples, and international attendees. The attendee's scholarship will be awarded based on need and applied only against registration fees in an amount ranging from a partial to a full waiver of the registration fee. The applicant is responsible for paying any additional registration fee remaining if the scholarship award is not a full tuition scholarship. As a fully registered attendee, scholarship recipients are entitled to all services and activities as listed on the Registration page. Food and drink, hotel, products and services purchased from vendors, discretionary and entertainment expenses, and transportation are not covered by the standard scholarship award. No money will be given directly to the scholarship recipient.

How to Apply

The application deadline is February 28, 2006. You will receive an email confirming the receipt of your submitted form. Late applications will be reviewed on a case by case basis, funds permitting. Scholarship awards will be made starting March 1, 2006. You will receive additional instructions with your award decision on how to complete your registration and how to submit any partial registration fee (if required). Please indicate on your application form if your attendance at Esprit depends on knowing before the March 1 date whether you will receive a scholarship.

If you do not have computer access, contact one of the sponsoring organizations to arrange an alternate method.

Scholarship Guidelines

Please note the following when you prepare your application.

  1. You must have a sponsor. Include in your application the name and address and name of an officer at the transgendered organization sponsoring you.
  2. All required fields must be completed.
  3. When you indicate your financial situation, please be fair to other applicants by providing accurate and true information about your financial status.
  4. Please describe as fully as possible why you want to attend and your financial status.

The following guidelines are used in determining awards. Scholarships will not necessarily be awarded in each category.

  1. First-Time Attendees - Up to Full Tuition Scholarship.
This must be your first time at Esprit.
  2. Couples - Up to Full scholarship for Spouse.
This must be the first time that you, as the spouse of a trans-gendered person, have attended Esprit with your spouse
  3. International Attendees - Part tuition scholarship.
This scholarship is for any person not living in the United States. Preference will be given to first time attendees. You must state the country you are coming from.
  4. Financial Need Attendees - Variable amount scholarship.
This scholarship is highly dependent on financial need.

* This form is hosted at the Cornbury Society, one of Esprit's sponsoring organizations.
