Don't miss our own special production of the great American
family pastime...an evening of gather-around-the-radio fun!
The
Friday Talent Show is our very own talent and variety show featuring singing,
dancing, lip-synch, comedy, and more. It is the highlight of an evening
that begins with cocktails and a full meal served at the elegant and historic
Elk's Lodge.
Since 2000, attendees at Esprit have had
the chance to make their dreams come true, that is, if your dream is to
dress up like your idol and get up on stage shaking your booty and performing!
This is a chance to show off your talents to an audience that wishes they
were brave enough to be up there themselves. No talent is too big or too
small for our stage. Esprit usually invites a number of special
guests and dignitaries from Port Angeles to attend this popular show.
This year we feature our own live stage version of a
certain popular radio variety show but in our own imitable style. The
performer list features acts by you sprinkled in between other great segments,
including the streetwise adventures of "Gal Noir: Private Dick",
a special interview with Barbie, and much more. Say thanks to our sponsors
for this show: the friendly folks at Powder Cake Makeup.
After the show, Glitter Bitch and The Social Hussies
will entertain you with live music ranging from the 1940's to today. This
band features all-around musician extraordinaire Penny Gadget and smooth
vocals by Bruce Johnson.
One more day left and we are definitely not ending quietly!
On Saturday we start by honoring our first time attendees in a special
ceremony ...

There are some basic guidelines that must
be followed in order to make the show as enjoyable as possible. Everyone
still gets to be in the show (unless there is a real time constraint
and too many acts). Pretty much anything goes, as long as it's satisfactory
for the diverse, all-age audience that we have at Esprit. Participants
will be limited to one turn up on stage with possible exceptions for
well-rehearsed performances by players with established track records
if we have a surplus of time. |
| Performers are asked to restrict acts (songs/skits/sketches/etc.)
to five minutes, as we're trying keep the show at a reasonable length
and fast-paced. Auditions will be held
around mid-week, and rehearsals are typically held Friday afternoon.
These commitments may mean you miss classes or other activities. The
actual audition and rehearsal times will be posted on the weekly schedule
as soon as possible, but you should also check the Registration Desk
for last minute scheduling announcements. |

So get out there, get your acts together
and practice, practice, practice! If you have any questions, or want
to get your act in the lineup early, please contact
the talent show coordinator with your ideas, plans, and what you'd
like to do in the show. Auditions will be held Thursday at 3:30. |
